Freshers Week: Monday 30 September – Sunday 6 October 2024
There will be a variety of events hosted by the College Tutorial Team and the CR. These will include games nights, pub crawls, formal meals and a number of opportunities to meet key College staff and College Fellows.
A full programme of events can be found here.
Matriculation Photograph (all freshers): Friday 4 October 2024
All 2024 freshers and College Fellows will gather on the College lawn for a formal photograph to commemorate their start at St Edmund’s. You will be able to buy a copy of the photograph afterwards if you wish. A drinks reception and light lunch will also be served after the photograph is taken.
Start of Term: Monday 7 October 2024
Lectures start: Thursday 10 October 2024
Formal Matriculation ceremonies: Monday 7 October, Wednesday 9 October and Thursday 10 October 2024 (you will receive a personal invite to a particular ceremony)
The Matriculation ceremony marks the formal admission of a student to the college as a junior member and formally begins their membership of the University and the College. It is an agreement to conform to both the University and College regulations. At the Matriculation ceremony, The Master receives and welcomes new members of the College. The Matriculation ceremony is followed by a celebratory drinks reception and dinner.
When should I arrive?
Standard accommodation contracts begin on Tuesday 1 October 2024. Yet, when booking your room, you can specify an alternative arrival date, which can be anytime from 1 September 2024 onwards.
Most students arrive during or just before fresher’s week. Some courses, however, start early and you will need to be here for the start of your course. We expect all freshers to arrive in College before Friday 4 October to participate in the Matriculation photograph.
