Undergraduate offer-holders
All single undergraduate students, Foundation Year students and Graduate Medicine students are guaranteed accommodation in College for the duration of their degrees. Once you have met the conditions of your offer, you will receive a link to our booking portal to choose your room. Links will be sent to eligible offer-holders as and when they meet their conditions (including the submission of all necessary documentation) from May until early September.
Postgraduate offer-holders
For postgraduate students, we cannot guarantee College accommodation to all students, and it is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. For students due to start their degrees in October 2024, it is only possible to book College accommodation if: (1) you have met all of your offer conditions by 31 July; (2) this has been confirmed to us by the Postgraduate Admissions Office; and (3) you have completed and returned your Postgraduate Personal Details Form (included in your offer letter). The booking system for College accommodation opens on 16 August. It is not possible to book accommodation before this date.
Couples and Family Accommodation
If you wish to rent couples or family accommodation, please get in touch with our accommodation team directly at: accommodation@st-edmunds.cam.ac.uk. Please note, you will not be eligible to book any accommodation until you have met all of the conditions of your offer.

Living outside College
Many of our postgraduate students live outside College. As a College member, you will have access to all of the College’s facilities even if you live offsite. This includes the Common Room (or ‘CR’), the bar, the gym, the library, the dining hall, the coffee shop and the music room.
When looking for private accommodation in Cambridge, please remember that undergraduate students are required to live within 3 miles of Great St Mary’s Church (which is located in the centre of Cambridge) and postgraduate students are required to live within 10 miles of Great St Mary’s Church. This is a University requirement for all students.
There are many letting agencies in Cambridge that can help you find student accommodation. There are also private student residences in which you can book a room or studio. Of these, Collegiate Castle Street and Castle Hill are located close to the College. Please note that these are not affiliated with St Edmund’s College in any way. You can also register with the University’s accommodation service.
